About
Who am I?
I am Jo Atman. To be clear, that’s not my name. That’s who I am.
Ok, it’s a pseudonym. And it has evolved.
I started out being Jo Atmon. An acronym for Jack Of All Trades Master Of None.
Alas, after securing a Master of Science, a cousin reminded me that the second part of the phrase no longer applied.
At that point, I switched to a more spiritual Jo Atman.
Atman is the Sanskrit word for the inner essence or pure consciousness at the individual level.
Jo Atman is the ordinary soul, just like Joe Blow is the ordinary man.
Ok, and what’s this all about?
The Bhagavad Gita says the following in Chapter 2, Verse 41:
व्यवसायात्मिका बुद्धिरेकेह कुरुनन्दन |
बहुशाखा ह्यनन्ताश्च बुद्धयोऽव्यवसायिनाम् ||
The intellect of the resolute is one-pointed.
The intellect of the irresolute is many-branched and endless

I made several desultory attempts throughout my life to achieve a focused intellect, but finally gave up and embraced my irresolute and many-branched mediocre self, forsaking prosperity, happiness and “greatness”.
This site is a celebration of that intellect.
